Who We Are

ARDHA JABESA foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was registered in Kenya

in the year 2021 under section 10 of the NGOs Coordination ACT, 1990. The organization has been

operating as Charitable Nonprofit organization since 2017 and later gained NGO status in the year 2021.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation is an accredited organization with UN Economic and Social Council

[ECOSOC] and Provisional accreditation with UNCCD. The organization area of operations includes the

ASAL Counties of Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Wajir and Tana River.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation could also be defined as an implementing organization which

designs and implements various community developmental and advocacy initiatives with

support and partnership with local and international partners.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation works with the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Kenya

and in particular targeting communities whose operations and targeting by other actors is

minimal i.e. mobile pastoralists, rural and peri-urban communities with minimal contacts with

other agencies.


The organization programs focus on the cross counties-border approach that is intended to

build synergy and enhance communities’ engagement and resilience to recurrent disaster threats

and risks resulting from fragile climatic condition. Ardha Jabesa Foundation envisions bridging the

gap between the local community and the outside world through community-driven

development initiatives for long-term sustainable benefits.


The Local NGO is concerned with amongst others; the need to facilitate and champion the target

community by empowering them through integrated programs built on positive cultural and progressive practices to utilize available local resources and enhanced sustainable livelihoods and development.



Ardha Jabesa Foundations’ approach to Community development is motivated by the relationship between the communities living across the counties of Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit,Wajir and Tana River counties and their interdependence and connection to their natural ASAL ecosystem due to the perennial nomadic pastoralist lifestyle. The organization programmes focus on the cross counties/countries-border approach that is intended to build synergy and enhance communities’ engagement and resilience to recurrent disaster threats and risks resulting from fragile climatic condition.

The Foundation is concerned with amongst others; the need to facilitate and champion the target community by empowering them through integrated programs built on positive cultural and progressive practices to utilize available local resources and enhanced sustainable livelihoods and development.
