About Ardha Jabesa

ARDHA JABESA foundation is Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that was registered in the year 2021 under section 10 of the NGOs Coordination ACT, 1990. The organization has been operating as Charitable Nonprofit organization since 2017 and later gained NGO status in the year 2021.


The organization area of operations as per registration includes the following counties in Kenya namely; ISIOLO, SAMBURU, MARSABIT, WAJIR and Tana River Counties, Isiolo being the host County.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation could also be defined as an implementing organization which designs and implements various developmental support with the financial and technical partnership with local and international partners and the two levels of Government i.e National Government and County Government.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation works with the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities of Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Wajir and Tana River counties in Kenya, In particular we work with communities whose operations and targeting by other actors is minimal i.e. mobile pastoralists, rural and peri-urban communities with minimal contacts with other agencies.


Ardha Jabesa Foundations’ approach to Community development is motivated by the relationship between the communities living across the counties of Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit,Wajir and Tana River counties and their interdependence and connection to their natural ASAL ecosystem due to the perennial nomadic pastoralist lifestyle. The organization programmes focus on the cross counties/countries-border approach that is intended to build synergy and enhance communities’ engagement and resilience to recurrent disaster threats and risks resulting from fragile climatic condition.


The Foundation is concerned with amongst others; the need to facilitate and champion the target community by empowering them through integrated programs built on positive cultural and progressive practices to utilize available local resources and enhanced sustainable livelihoods and development.


Objectives

Promotes Girl child children education & health in the agro- pastoralist society.

Enhance good governance, social cohesion and community integration/coexistence among communities.

To advocate against FGM, Early marriages and GBV among pastoralist communities and effectively protects the rights of Girl child and women in the society.

Enhance Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) in the community.

Support and Promotes Youths and Women empowerment in the community through sustainable livelihood programs

To advocate and lobby for policy and legislation that effectively protects the rights of local communities.

To promote sustainable natural resource management through enhanced local traditional governance systems among others.

Promotes an initiative that helps Youths in Behavioral change habit that discourages them from social delinquency


INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ARDHA JABESA FOUNDATION strives to equip itself with reasonable resources both, Human and equipment to facilitate effective delivery of organization integrated programmes. The organization undertook internal organizational analysis and the process pointed to a number of organizational areas that require further strengthening. This includes staff development, as well as financial and strategic management capacity development.

The Foundation aims to be a dynamic organization able to sustainably deliver quality, relevant and effective services to the community through proper strategic & financial management, establishment of good relations, systems and structures as well as staff and board development. The key areas in this theme are; Staff and Board Development, Financial Management, Strategic Management and Resource Mobilization for organizational Sustainability. However, Ardha Jabesa Foundation is relatively young organization and has since grown in size and strength and acquired a good management and programmatic systems.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Ardha Jabesa foundation participated in the fight against COVID 19 Pandemic among the pastoralist communities of Northern Kenya.
