About Ardha Jabesa

ARDHA JABESA foundation is Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was registered in Kenya in the

year 2021 under section 10 of the NGOs Coordination ACT, 1990. The organization has been operating as Charitable

Nonprofit organization since 2017 and later gained NGO status in the year 2021. Ardha Jabesa Foundation is an accredited

organization with UN Economic and Social Council [ECOSOC] and Provisional accreditation with UNCCD.


The organization area of operations includes the ASAL Counties of Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Wajir and Tana River.

Ardha Jabesa Foundation could also be defined as an implementing organization which designs and implements various

community developmental and advocacy initiatives with support and partnership with local and international partners.


Ardha Jabesa Foundation works with the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in Kenya and in particular targeting

communities whose operations and targeting by other actors is minimal i.e. mobile pastoralists, rural and peri-urban

communities with minimal contacts with other agencies.


The organization programs focus on the cross counties-border approach that is intended to build synergy

and enhance communities’ engagement and resilience to recurrent disaster threats and risks resulting

from fragile climatic condition. Ardha Jabesa Foundation envisions bridging the gap between

the local community and the outside world through community-driven development

initiatives for long-term sustainable benefits.


The Local NGO is concerned with amongst others; the need to facilitate and champion the target

community by empowering them through integrated programs built on positive cultural and progressive

practices to utilize available local resources and enhanced sustainable livelihoods and development.


Objectives

Protect and restore critical habitats to support biodiversity and implement habitat restoration projects in degraded ecosystems in Northern Kenya.

Enhance the resilience of ecosystems and species to climate change and develop and implement conservation strategies that consider climate adaptation.

Support the reintroduction and conservation of native species and educate the public and stakeholders about the importance of native biodiversity and the threats posed by invasive species.

Foster partnerships and collaborations to enhance conservation impact and build networks and coalitions with other conservation organizations, governments, and the private sector.

Strengthen local institutions and governance for sustainable development.

Advocate against FGM, early marriages, gender-based violence and promoting Girl Child Education to protect the rights of girls and women in pastoralist communities.

Enhanced Peace building, Governance and Socio-Economic Integration in our communities

Partner with local communities and stakeholders to promote sustainable land use practices.

Promote the restoration of ecosystems that provide natural climate solutions and monitor and research climate impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems.

Empower local communities to participate in conservation efforts and develop community-led conservation projects and initiatives and raise awareness and educate the public about environmental conservation and foster traditional ecological knowledge and integrate it into conservation planning.

Support the development of diverse and resilient local economies through empowering Youth and Women Led initiatives and promote inclusive growth that benefits marginalized and vulnerable populations.

To Promote Enhanced Sustainable Natural Resource Management and Lobby for Community Land rights

To advocate and lobby for policy and legislation that effectively protects the rights of local communities.


INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ARDHA JABESA FOUNDATION strives to equip itself with reasonable resources both, Human and equipment to facilitate effective delivery of organization integrated programmes. The organization undertook internal organizational analysis and the process pointed to a number of organizational areas that require further strengthening. This includes staff development, as well as financial and strategic management capacity development.

The Foundation aims to be a dynamic organization able to sustainably deliver quality, relevant and effective services to the community through proper strategic & financial management, establishment of good relations, systems and structures as well as staff and board development. The key areas in this theme are; Staff and Board Development, Financial Management, Strategic Management and Resource Mobilization for organizational Sustainability. However, Ardha Jabesa Foundation is relatively young organization and has since grown in size and strength and acquired a good management and programmatic systems.
